6th GRADER JORDAN TIMM CONQUERS ALL IN CHESS!Krista Hong
Jordan Timm competed in the 2019 Statewide Chess Tournament put on by the School Chess Association for elementary students the weekend of of May 4-5 at Robbinsdale Middle School. He played in 7 rounds and went undefeated, receiving a huge trophy for his victory! Jordan ended up with first place out of 132 players!
This is a meaningful tournament for Jordan as it is the last time he can play in this level. It also makes him one of a very small handful of players who have won the title in both the primary (K-3) and elementary sections (4-6). He won the primary championship in 2015 as a second grader, where he also went undefeated.
Jordan moved on to the Tournament of Champions, May 18 at Zachary Lane, where the top 16 from the Statewide tournament play each other in their respective sections. Jordan finished first out of those 16, undefeated again, making him the clear cut champion. Receiving first place in both tournaments is quite notable and is often not the case.
As you can imagine, his parents and his school are very proud of Jordan and this great accomplishment!
