Communication and Information Update
Hello SHPA Families,
Thank you to those of you who were able to join the virtual parent forum last night. We so appreciate the ongoing support and input from our parents as we finalize our fall plans. We apologize for those who were not able to join due to system limits. A recording of the Virtual Parent Forum will be sent out next week. Please see the information updates below and watch for important communications coming out next week, including distance learning confirmations, cohort roster assignments, and deadlines for bus and lunch payment and orders.
Forum Follow-ups: Families will have until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17th, to choose the distance learning option by emailing Ms. Docken at kdocken@shpamn.org. Additional opportunities to change learning models have been tentatively-scheduled for October 19th, December 7th, January 4th, and March 15th with two weeks advance notice required. Hybrid cohort rosters will be sent to families on Wednesday, August 19th. We appreciate your acceptance and understanding of the complex logistics behind roster assignments. Finally, a reminder that bus payment to secure your child(ren)’s stop is due by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21st. If you have additional questions that are not expected to be answered in next week’s back to school communications, please email info@shpamn.org and we will do our best to respond in a timely manner.
Lunch Ordering: For the month of September Orgs will be open from Tuesday, August 18th to Tuesday, August 25th, Please only order lunches for the days your child is at school unless you qualify for free lunch, then you should order lunch for all school days for the hybrid or distance learning model. When you log into Orgs you will need to pick which campus you student attends and then proceed with your lunch order. If you have questions please contact Ms. Gihl at the Bloomington campus (mgihl@shpamn.org) or Ms. Trenary at the Richfield campus (dtrenary@shpamn.org). We will start the year delivering bag lunches directly to classrooms while recognizing individual student desks as nut-free zones. Classroom snacks are still expected to be nut-free, and desks will be sanitized before and after lunch and snack. A school lunch will cost $3.75 and milk will cost $.60, with eligible families receiving financial assistance.
Childcare Options: In a hybrid model, both campuses will again be required to provide free child care for school-aged children of Tier I essential workers. This childcare is only available to families who have chosen the hybrid model. Childcare would be offered on home-learning days according to the school’s regular schedule, and on distance learning Fridays until Noon. Please contact Ms. Rimstad if you are an essential worker in need of childcare: lrimstad@shpamn.org. Transportation will also again be provided to childcare families who request it. For families who have not chosen the hybrid model or who are not Tier I essential workers, before/after care will be offered independently through Cedar Valley Church (Bloomington Campus) and Berea Lutheran Church (Richfield Campus).
Have a safe and restful weekend,
The SHPA Administrative Leadership Team
