Important Announcement Concerning Face Covering Requirement
As we look forward to the first day of school, we would like to provide an important update concerning our face covering requirement to start the 2021-22 school year.
As we previously shared with our families through a special school communication and subsequent parent forum last month, the school board last night approved a recommendation to require face coverings for all persons aged 2 years and older, regardless of vaccination status, inside school buildings. To review the face covering policy as well as the quarantine policy included in the school’s resolution, please visit our COVID-19 webpage. You can also find several other updated documents and resources on this page related to our school’s safe return to in-person learning plan.
We understand the school’s position on face coverings has been a point of contention among some of our families. However, in an effort to limit transmission and infection and reduce the number of days students are absent from school, we believe this to be the safest and most responsible decision for our entire learning community at this time. We appreciate the largely respectful way in which this policy has been debated, reflective of our school’s democratic classicist model and character values, and we will continue to monitor the situation and revisit the school’s position at each successive board meeting.
On behalf of the school board and administration, we are grateful for your engagement and support and look forward to the first day of a safe and successful school year!
