Our curriculum and sequencing at Seven Hills has long been guided by state standards, classical education, and by the idea of a Core Knowledge. This concept of a shared set of knowledge that leads to higher academic success was made popular in 1987 by E.D. Hirsch when he published his book Cultural Literacy. As we look to update our curriculum to reflect the new social studies standards we are exploring the update of our set of common knowledge. We are asking our community to share with us what they think are top priorities in a k-8 education that seeks to prepare scholars for strong citizenship and life-long learning.
